What is Redact PDF?
PDF Redact permanently removes sensitive content from PDF documents by overlaying black rectangles over selected areas — the underlying text or images are irrecoverable from the output.
When to use this tool

How it works
Uses pdf-lib to draw opaque black rectangles over the specified regions of each page. The overlay completely covers the original content. For true redaction, the underlying content stream is replaced — not just visually hidden.
Security Guidelines
- Always verify the redacted PDF by opening it in a PDF reader to confirm content is fully removed
- Visual overlays alone may not remove underlying text — use the replace content option for true redaction
- Redaction is irreversible — keep an unredacted backup
